Evan tld me an idea that True suggested that I think sounds really good. All players play with pseudonyms. That way we aren't haunted by prior years and strategies. Some of us will be easy to id from our posts (Amer, others) but I think this would be fun and challenging. Any flaws?

It's an interesting idea and it's worth trying out. Although I think after the first couple weeks, word will get out about who's who.
Think of it this way, I'm already using a pseudonym and regardless of whether I use 'Neutrino' or I use my real name, I'm still going to talk to the Mildville-BRH players outside of Mildville. Eventually we're going to know who each other are, UNLESS, there's an incentive to not to reveal that information.
Just my 2 cents.

I think the inherent fear of being found out or mistaken for a baddie will actually deter reveals. People will be apprehensive to reveal too much to the wrong (or possibly wrong) players.

It does add an interesting element. For example, if I don't know who Tulley is, I'll have no idea who the bad guy is.

I really liked the season where it was like a murder mystery on the ship and we each had our own back story. I think that if we used the pseudonyms in that type of game and we had to play the role of our character it could work.

That would probably mean that......I would have to stop using so many ellipses in my posts.....and at the same time....someone else would start using them to impersonate me!

I was planning on a lot of emoticons so I'd be mistaken for True or Sarah. If I was any good at math, I'd try that but so it goes.

I plan to run a solid game. That way, no one will guess that I am the mayor.

Is each person creating a new personal email address for this taking it too far?
What about the added layer of not even Evan knowing our true identities?

Is each person creating a new personal email address for this taking it too far? What about the added layer of not even Evan knowing our true identities? I think our email addresses are hidden and I bcc everyone on emails. Correct me if I am mistaken I'm not a fan of me not knowing your identities, simply because it helps to know how to address someone if there is a complaint, or an argument starts getting too personal and I want to pm people to cool down. The only advantage I can see to this is that I wouldn't be able to give an "unfair advantage" to players, but the only person who I might accidentally do that for is Annie and I'll know her secret identity because <pillow talk>

you do bcc but sometimes we email each other outside the forums too.
...just thinking of how fake identities would get thrown out the window pretty fast.
My other thought is: I don't want it to work against players for keeping their secret identity. for some reason would it be strategic at some point in the season to share identities or to share who we think who is? or would we carry the secret identities until the end?
I would hope to keep them until the end and have them officially revealed by evan at the end for fun/season finale post.

There's no need to use email for private conversations about the game. That can be done with the forum's private messaging system.
I like this concept. Although I'll probably be outed the first time I post a theory.
