That's a pretty good show. It seems to be like Star Trek: TOS where they visit a new area every week and meet a new thing. Last night's episode was good. I think it was the first one where I enjoyed the plot. Wasn't super-scary like episode 2 though. That was messed-up scary: Hmmm, I can't seem to embed a gif. Any ideas? Here's the super scary clip: lolopia.com/monkeyface-dominates-new-abc-show-the-river/

I like this show too. Episode 2 was the best, very blair witch meets paranormal activity.

I don't see it having lasting power but I am liking the variety of scary stuff. Sometimes a bit heavy handed but it probably wouldn't be a primetime ABC show if it was tooooooo scary.

Last nights episode was pretty cool.
What was also interested that they took a cue from Shakespeare. Instead of a play within a play, it is found footage of people watching found footage.

I liked this week's episode quite a bit....a little disappointed he didnt eat the dog. No, no, no, no, no... that was the WORST part. I can't handle pets being eaten. I liked the episode but that made me want to hurl. And bawl. And hurl some more.

If he ate the dog the mula tribe wouldn't have saved him. It was a test!

I once saw an episode of "I shouldn't be alive" where a guy flees murderers. He had to trek 80 miles through the amazon forest, and at one point in time he met a dog. Towards the end of his journey he had to eat the dog to stay alive.
This episode of the River was really good, all of the scary parts were related to the main plot, so the horror felt organic and genuine. I like that they left it on a cliffhanger, I wish they'd do that more often.
I think Annie said the long-term plan is to have each season be in a different setting. I would like that: The river plot is good, but I think these characters can only carry a show so long. Except the blonde lady, who I think is incredibly pretty. And Emmitt Cole, because that guy rules.
I'd like it if they did a season where they explore a frozen river at the North Pole and uncover some H.P. Lovecraft ancients stuff.

i don't think its doing well enough in the ratings for a 2nd season which sucks.
I think an episode set in the australian outback could be cool with the aboriginal mythology.

Another good episode last night. Only one left. I hope they tie up as many loose ends as they can since I doubt we will get another season.

That was a really good episode, except for the very end where Emmett took a ridiculously unsafe shot and almost killed his son.
One episode left. What will happen? I guess that Emmett is the black thing that was trapped in the sealed room aboard the boat in episode 1.
What that side project with the zombie cancer virus and the germans stopping them has to do with anything, I have no idea. I think the emmet-monster killed everyone because they were screwing with the locals. I don't know why German chick had to shoot everyone.

The ghost in the sealed room in episode one was the dead producer who Emmet took instead of the producer on the series. He had like a bad heart so the jungle rejected him when he died of something(I forgot what). They mentioned who it was near the end of that episode but it wasn't 100% clear.

I completely missed that. How did he become a ghost in a sealed room? --

Well from what I remember, the current produce showed someone a picture of the dead producer and said he was a son of a bitch. Then the crazy girl said that if you had a bad heart and was buried in the jungle the jungle would reject you or something and you'd turn into a man eating ghost. At some other point we learn that the producer had died and we see flashbacks of them deciding to lock the dead producer's ghost inside the giant acorn thing in the basement after it had killed one of the old boat crew.

My favorite moment of the series so far:
A demon-possessed Lincoln punching out that dude's throat then eating his sandwich with his bloody hand.

I liked the last episode, I just hope it is not the last episode. They left way too many questions unanswered.
