For the first vote, I'd say, yeah, it's kind of a stab in the dark. Not that I'm stabbing anyone in the dark like some loathsome spy. What if we made it so that if the first vote reveals a diplomat, that person is protected by the immunity challenge, if we're able, and given the job to send out many chains, lets say 4 or 5 chains, with one chain being the longest and the others being the same. That way, we know if anyone deviates from their chain, which would make them suspicious. Plus, the spies don't know who is going to be voted off and kill them before it happens.

This is what I'm thinking...I'm trying to follow all of the players thinking, but it is giving me a headache. I think we all should vote for whomever we want to this first week, and see who gets the vote and who is revealed. After that being done we can talk about why we choose whom we did, and start comparing notes. I personally think we all have our own interpretation of what is being written, therefore if we all state our reasons for voting we may open one another eyes to something we may have missed.

I voted for Chris because a promise is a promise. But it looks like I'm gonna get to be the Diplomat who calls the shots now!

Er, wait, Amer got more points on the immunity challenge so if Big Sexy voted for him then we get to find out if Amer is the big-shot diplomat. I'm still a little drunk from last night...

So we all need to throw the immunity challenge so stinky can win, right?

This thread is way too long for someone playing catch up. I totally spaced on voting yesterday, it was my mom's 50th bday and we went to the spa. I got all relaxed and meant to vote when I got home but fell asleep. The spa was at a winery so I was extra relaxed I'm not sure what to say about this chain plan... seems to me it would work in theory only, because we're still telling the spies who we are voting for. What if a spy gets in the chain early on and changes the name? I do support the idea of protecting or helping the known diplomat with immunity this week, if the challenge makes that possible. That works for this week, but if we get a second diplomat next week it will be more difficult to protect the two.

What if a spy gets in the chain early on and changes the name? Say Pete says a name, the spy is next with that name but changes it, then tells me, would I "get my name approved with Pete in secret? and go from there? I do support the idea of protecting or helping the known diplomat with immunity this week, if the challenge makes that possible. That works for this week, but if we get a second diplomat next week it will be more difficult to protect the two. I agree Sarah! I feel like I've brought this up twice but no one has responded to this issue..

Yeah I think checking the name with the person who started the chain would solve that... but it still tells the spies who that is and allows them to hide in the group. Since there are still 5 of them they could just let the first person take one for the team if we do choose a spy. That would still benefit us diplomats, but only if we nab the right person.

Meh, the more I think about it, the more I'm having doubts about the chain plan. It basically changes to rules back to how it was last season: person with the most votes gets killed (diplomat or spy).
On another subject, what's the reason for protecting the confirmed diplomats? At least one diplomat is going to die every week anyways. If it isn't Stinky Pete this week, it's going to be another diplomat.
I'm still going to try to throw the immunity challenge to Stinky Pete this week. Not because I want to try to keep him alive (sorry Pete), but because it's better for a known diplomat to have immunity than for a spy or an unknown to have it.

Exactly, it's not just to keep a trusted person alive and strengthen our numbers but to prevent spies from gaining immunity.
